Ecuador will look to stop the rot when they welcome Chile to Quito for a South American World Cup qualifier on Thursday. After a very bright start to the campaign, Gustavo Quinteros has seen his side pick up only one point from their last four matches, and they head into this tough game on the back of three straight qualifying defeats. They're still currently occupying fifth place and the resultant intercontinental playoff place, but they need to improve their form to stand any chance of making it to Russia.

Ecuador will look to bounce back from a poor run at home against Chile on Thursday.

That said, Ecuador may well take some heart from the fact that Chile have made a freakishly poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign. They've won only three of their first eight matches, and sit below Paraguay in seventh place ahead of this fixture. They're only two points adrift of Ecuador, and they still have plenty of time to turn things around, but the reigning Copa América champions won't want to waste any more time as they bid to claw their way back into an automatic qualification spot.
