Miroslav Klose’s incredible career has finally come to an end. The legendary German striker announced his retirement on Tuesday, and it was subsequently revealed that he’ll be taking up a coaching role with the German national team.

Klose retires as the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup with 16 goals. He got to add to that tally in 2014, scoring twice as Germany lifted the World Cup. Those were the final two goals in an incredible international career that featured 71 goals in 137 appearances.

In addition to his scoring record, Klose has a World Cup Golden Boot, most wins at the World Cup, and is the only player to finish in the top three of the World Cup four times.
