Having made a promising start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, three defeats in their last four matches have seen Paraguay slip ominously down the table. They’re still only a couple of points and as many places below fourth-placed Ecuador, but they need to stop their rot quickly if they’re to get back on track. The 4-1 thrashing they suffered at home to Peru last time out certainly won’t have helped their confidence.
Bolivia vs. Paraguay 2016: Start time, live stream, TV schedule, and 3 things to know
Paraguay will look to get their qualifying campaign back on track against basement side Bolivia.

They’ll look to get back to winning ways away in Bolivia on Tuesday, in a game they’ll certainly feel is winnable. Bolivia have won just one of their 11 qualifying matches so far, and head into this match with their usual strong home record having completely deserted them. They’ve won just once in five attempts on home soil, and could find life difficult against a Paraguay side with all still to play for.

Three big things to know
1. The magnitude of Bolivia’s challenge is demonstrated by the fact that their goal difference is almost twice as bad as everyone else’s in South American qualifying. They’ve conceded 31 goals in their 11 matches so far, and have scored on just nine occasions through the same period. They suffered a 5-0 thrashing last week against a Venezuela side that had sat even lower in the group at kickoff. Their victory left Bolivia sitting rock bottom.
2. Legendary Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz, who has made over a century of appearances for his national team, has announced that he will retire at the end of this international break. He’s sure to want to make a mark on what will be his final ever appearance in the red and white stripes.
3. Bolivia are traditionally difficult to beat in La Paz, due to opponents being unused to the effects of the high altitude. Bolivia won when these sides last met on home soil back in 2012, with Paraguay having not won away in the city since a friendly in 1987.
