Three big things to know
1. Leverkusen are still unbeaten in this year’s Champions League, but only picked up their first win away at Tottenham Hotspur last time out. Kevin Kampl scored the only goal of an entertaining game shortly past the hour, dealing a big blow to Spurs’ hopes of safe passage into the knockouts.
2. CSKA, in contrast, are yet to win a match in this year’s Champions League, and head into this tie having not won a single game in this competition in their last eight attempts. Not since last September, when they recorded a 3-2 victory over PSV Eindhoven, has coach Leonid Slutsky overseen a victory in Europe’s top club competition.
3. CSKA will be without Roman Eremenko, who has been suspended for two years after a positive doping control test. He's joined on the sidelines by Aleksandrs Cauņa, who hasn't played this season after undergoing ankle surgery. Leverkusen, meanwhile, will be without midfielder Lars Bender and attacker Karim Bellarabi; and are waiting on the fitness of Joel Pohjanpalo and Vladlen Yurchenko.
