Watford FC captain Troy Deeney has been a key player for the club over the last five years, guiding them into the Premier League while doing everything a team could want a striker to do up top. And on Boxing Day, he became the fifth Watford player to score 100 goals for the club by converting a penalty against Crystal Palace.
Troy Deeney scores his 100th goal for Watford
The Hornets captain is just the fifth player to reach the century mark for the club.

Deeney has been sitting on 99 goals for quite a while. He scored against Bournemouth on Oct. 1, and he’s struggled to find the back of the net since. He was dropped to the bench for this game because of his poor form, but came on as a first-half substitute after Valon Behrami picked up an injury. When Sebastian Prödl drew a second-half penalty, Deeney stepped up and blasted the ball past Wayne Hennessey, finally breaking his scoreless streak and earning a point for his team.
This summer, Deeney signed a new five-year contract with the Hornets, making it likely that he’ll finish the top-level portion of his career with Watford. It’s not inconceivable that he could become the club’s all-time leading scorer; Luther Blissett currently holds that record with 186 goals, and Deeney has scored 20-plus goals in one season on three occasions.
