Barcelona had no problem coasting past Arsenal, while Bayern Munich barely edged Juventus in an extra time thriller.
Juve let off Bayern and got ripped to shreds

Alexander Hassenstein/Getty ImagesCosta then clipped the ball over the defense to Lewandowski, who shot straight at Gianluigi Buffon. The veteran keeper parried the ball but it went to Müller, who, in typical fashion, was at the right place again. This time, however, he was caught off-guard by the save and headed wide.
Within a few minutes, the change in Bayern’s midfield resulted in two clear chances at goal, probably their best openings up to that point. It was a clear warning to Juve that their enemy was still immensely dangerous.

Alexander Hassenstein/Getty ImagesBayern Munich came from two goals down to win 4-2 against Juventus on Wednesday, booking their place in the Champions League quarterfinals in the process. The victory secured a 6-4 aggregate win for Pep Guardiola’s side, who showed impressive spirit against a very disciplined Juve.
The following few minutes were marked by Bayern dominance, though Pep Guardiola’s side looked uncharacteristically static in possession. They struggled to find a route through Juventus’ deep defence, with Max Allegri’s side doing an awful lot to perpetuate the miserly Italian stereotype.

Richard Heathcote/Getty ImagesBarcelona couldn’t keep a clean sheet for the entire Champions League tie, but they did handle Arsenal with ease, winning 3-1 at the Camp Nou on goals from Neymar and Luis Suarez. That scoreline saw them win their round of 16 tie by a staggering 5-1 margin, sending Barcelona on to the quarterfinals without breaking a sweat, and sending Arsenal limping back to England wondering what on earth just happened.
Arsenal had to find some way, any way, to keep from giving up an early goal if they were going to have any chance of coming back in this tie. Going down a goal in the match would have put them down 3-0 on aggregate and almost certainly ended the tie right then and there, but stopping Barcelona’s attack is a tough task.

Alex Grimm/Getty ImagesThomas Müller is one of the most clutch players of all time.
There haven’t been many ties better than this one in recent memory. Bayern took a 2-0 lead, gave up four goals in a row, then fought their way back as Juve tried to sit on their lead. What extra time might bring, no one could possibly guess.

Richard Heathcote/Getty ImagesArsenal gave Suarez way too much to work with for no logical reason, and he made them pay with a sideways volley into the far corner just because he could. That is nasty and a heck of a way to effectively end the tie, putting the score out of reach at 4-1.
I bet Arsene Wenger wishes he had raised that transfer offer by more than one pound now.

Out: Martín Cáceres (Achilles); Claudio Marchisio, Paulo Dybala, Giorgio Chiellini (calf). In doubt: Mario Mandžukić (groin).
Bayern will certainly be without injured centre-backs Boateng and Badstuber, though the versatile Martínez and winger Robben both face late fitness tests.

Out: Rafinha (knee); Sandro Ramírez (thigh); Gerard Piqué (suspended). in doubt: None.
Barça’s long-term absentee Rafinha is joined on the sidelines by injured youngster Sandro and suspended defender Piqué. Still, their woes are nowhere near as serious as Arsenal’s, with the Gunners still missing several key players including goalkeeper Čech and midfielder Ramsey. Centre-back Koscielny faces a late fitness test.

Read Article >What we learned from Atlético winning on penalties

VI-Images/Getty ImagesFor the first time in this Champions League round, 90 minutes were not enough to decide a winner between Atlético Madrid and PSV Eindhoven. The match stayed scoreless all the way through regulation and extra time -- making this tie the first knockout tie in Champions League history to go scoreless -- and it took eight rounds of penalties for Atlético to emerge triumphant
The match itself was a very tactical affair, with both PSV and Atlético doing everything they could to out-wit one another. PSV were more aggressive in all phases of the game than many seemed to expect -- especially after seeing a fairly defensive lineup for the Dutch team -- and it seemed to catch their Spanish hosts somewhat off guard.

Alex Livesey/Getty ImagesManchester City qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in their history on Tuesday, but their supporters won’t have felt much like celebrating at the final whistle. Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit turned in a rather disappointing display in a goalless draw at home to the comparative minnows Dynamo Kiev, and progressed only by virtue of their 3-1 first leg victory.
Otherwise, almost nothing happened. Both teams traded spells in possession but failed to do anything with them. As the half wore on, Dynamo appeared to be taking a few more positional risks when attacking; however, City couldn’t make the most of the added space on the counter attack, and they’d failed to register a single shot on target by the time the halftime whistle sounded.

Dynamo Kiev starting lineup (4-5-1): Oleksandr Shovkovskiy; Vitorino Antunes, Aleksandar Dragović, Yevhen Khacheridi, Domagoj Vida; Oleh Gusev, Vitaliy Buyalskiy, Miguel Veloso, Denys Garmash, Andriy Yarmolenko; Łukasz Teodorczyk.

After a scoreless draw in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie, Atlético Madrid bring things back to the Calderón with ill intentions in mind for PSV Eindhoven. While their Dutch opponents managed to hold things level in Holland, back on Spanish soil things will be very different.
Now that Diego Simeone and Atlético have seen what PSV are bringing to the table to try to stop them, it’s going to be a much different challenge for them to hold the Spaniards down again. They certainly showed that they have what it takes to play at a high level against one of the best teams in Europe, but now that Atléti know what to expect and have time to figure out how to exploit it -- well, this one won’t end nearly so well for PSV.

Manchester City dominated in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine, winning 3-1 to set themselves up for what they’re hoping will be an easy match at home to finish the job. Will it be as easy as they hope? Maybe, maybe not. But Manchester is certainly not going to do anything to ease up the pressure on Dynamo or make it easy for them to come back. Either way, this match should be fairly fun to watch as the tie winds down.
Should you wish to watch the match online, there are plenty of options available for you to choose from. In the United States, the match will be on the Fox Soccer 2 Go subscription service, and if you’re with an Internet provider partnered with Fox the match also will be available to watch on Fox Sports Go. Read Article >Manchester City have big lead against Dynamo Kiev
Manchester City shouldn’t have any problem progressing into the Champions League quarterfinals when they take on Dynamo Kiev in the second leg of their round of 16 encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. Manuel Pellegrini’s side were not perfect in the first leg, but three away goals in a 3-1 win will give them confidence of cruising into the next stage. If they avoid an upset, they would reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time since they made their tournament debut back in 2011.
Dynamo Kiev certainly weren’t bad in the first leg, and indeed dominated throughout the early part of the second half. However, they were eventually punished for their attack-minded approach, with Yaya Touré‘s last-gasp third likely ending their hopes of getting back into the tie away at the Etihad. If they did manage to come from a couple behind to win (remember: they need to score at least thrice to stand any chance of avoiding elimination) it would represent one of the tournament’s all-time great achievements.

Atlético Madrid will look to maximise home advantage when they take on PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of their Champions League first knockout round tie on Tuesday. The Madrilenians head into the match having been held to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture in the Netherlands, despite having been expected to win the tie fairly comfortably. PSV are certainly putting up a strong fight, and now will have the belief that they have what it takes to win.
Of course, the away goals rule means that PSV would be in a very strong position even if they only find the net once -- a fact of which Atléti coach Diego Simeone will be all too aware. Fortunately for the Argentine, his side’s main strength is their incredible defensive solidity, and they’re sure to make the Calderón as intimidating a ground to visit as it was in their run to the Champions League final a couple of seasons ago.

Mike Hewitt/Getty ImagesParis Saint-Germain started fast and finished strong, overcoming a Chelsea fightback to earn a 2-1 win in London to win their Champions League round of 16 tie with a 4-2 aggregate scoreline. A goal from Zlatan Ibrahimović was the final blow, and he and PSG were simply too much for Chelsea to overcome on the night.
Chelsea did their best to build early momentum, but a sixth-minute goal called out for offside from Zaltan Ibrahimović would prove ominous to the English team’s chances. PSG would repeatedly stymie Chelsea’s efforts to get forward, with their only shot in the opening minutes proving to be an easy save for Kevin Trapp.

Mike Hewitt/Getty ImagesPSG have elected to leave Edinson Cavani on the bench to start the match, though with Angel Di Maria and Lucas joining Zlatan Ibrahimović on the front line they’re not exactly lacking for firepower. They’ll be missing Marco Verratti’s presence in midfield tonight, but Adrien Rabiot has been excellent in his efforts to fill in for the Italian recently, so the Parisians will be hoping he continues his quality run in the biggest match of their season so far.

Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno/Getty ImagesBenfica secured their passage into the Champions League quarterfinals with a 2-1 win away at Zenit St. Petersburg on Wednesday. Extra time seemed imminent after Hulk cancelled out Benfica’s first leg lead with a goal midway through the second half, though Benfica scored twice in the final few minutes to secure a comfortable 3-1 aggregate win.
The visitors were certainly the more impressive of the two teams in the game’s opening exchanges, though only seriously tested Zenit keeper Yuri Lodygin through a Jonas free-kick, which he tipped harmlessly over the crossbar.
