USA vs. Guatemala lineups

Edgar Castillo returns to the fold, while Bobby Wood gets a big chance up top.

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The United States men’s national team lineup doesn’t have any jaw-dropping names on it, but there are some minor surprises to face Guatemala. Edgar Castillo has a big opportunity to become the first choice left back with a great performance, while the midfield pairing of Mix Diskerud and Michael Bradley indicates that Jurgen Klinsmann isn’t afraid of Guatemala’s attack through the center.

A lot will be expected of Bobby Wood, who’s having a big season with Union Berlin. Aron Johannsson is out for the season while Jozy Altidore has just come back from injury, so Wood gets thrust into the spotlight up top next to Clint Dempsey.

United States lineup (4-4-2): Tim Howard; Edgar Castillo, Omar Gonzalez, Geoff Cameron, Michael Orozco; Alejandro Bedoya, Michael Bradley, Mix Diskerud, DeAndre Yedlin; Clint Dempsey, Bobby Wood

Guatemala lineup (4-4-2): Paulo Motta; Cristian Jiménez, Hamilton López, Rafael Morales, Moises Hernández; Jean Márquez, Stefano Cincotta, Jose Contreras, Rodrigo Saravia; Gerson Tinoco, Carlos Ruíz

Kickoff is at 10 p.m. ET from Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City. You can catch the game in English on beIN Sports and in Spanish on NBC Universo.
