A win over Stoke City at Anfield on Sunday would see Liverpool leapfrog the Potters in the Premier League table. However, that may well be easier said than done. Jürgen Klopp's Merseysiders have gone four without a win in all competitions, and they still seem plagued by the inconsistency from which they've suffered so far this season. Which Liverpool will turn up this weekend is anyone's guess.

Liverpool will look to leapfrog Stoke in the Premier League table by beating the Potters at Anfield on Sunday.

Stoke are also not a team to be underestimated: Mark Hughes has put together an extremely talented team, and they're currently on course to better their highest ever Premier League finish of ninth place. They're currently suffering from something of an injury crisis, though should a couple of their star players -- including star attackers Marko Arnautović and Xherdan Shaqiri -- recover in time to play at Anfield, they could make life very difficult for Liverpool.
Key player: Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
Having played much of the season without a traditional centre-forward, Liverpool have been boosted in recent weeks by the return of Daniel Sturridge to full fitness. The former Chelsea and Manchester City forward will be looking to do all he can to impress England manager Roy Hodgson over the next few weeks, as he stakes his claim for a spot in the Three Lions' European Championships squad. Stoke City's defence will have to work very hard to stop him.
Recent history
Liverpool have won three straight games against Stoke City, and haven’t been beaten by them since a remarkable 6-1 loss at the Britannia Stadium last May. Suffice to say, we’re unlikely to see a repeat of that result on Sunday. Indeed, Stoke have remarkably not won at Anfield since way back in 1959, and have only won thrice away at Liverpool since 1894. It’s an impressive record that Liverpool will do their all to maintain.
Liverpool injuries and suspensions
Out: Joe Gomez, Danny Ings (knee); Jordan Rossiter (hamstring); Lucas Leiva (thigh); Christian Benteke, Jordan Henderson (knee); Emre Can (suspended). In doubt: None.
Stoke City injuries and suspensions
Out: Marc Wilson, Glen Johnson, Jonathan Walters (knee); Jack Butland (ankle). In doubt: Marko Arnautović (knee), Xherdan Shaqiri (thigh); Glenn Whelan, Ryan Shawcross (back); Geoff Cameron (illness).
Liverpool will still be without a handful of important players, with the most recent additions to their list of absentees being midfielders Can and Henderson, who are suspended and injured respectively.
Stoke City have been even more unfortunate in the injury stakes: with nine players receiving treatment they’re currently top of the Premier League’s injury table. However, over half of them could return at Anfield, including crucial first-teamers Shawcross, Arnautović and Shaqiri.
