Dortmund sit in second place, needing to keep winning matches in order to keep pace with league-leading Bayern Munich. They were five points back entering the weekend, and with Bayern picking up yet another win and with time in the season fast running out, they can ill-afford to drop any points. For their part, Schalke currently sit outside the European places in the Bundesliga at seventh in the table, but are just one point behind fourth-place Gladbach, and five behind Hertha Berlin. That tight of a race can change at the drop of a hat, and a win would be huge for Schalke right now.
The only certainty is that neither of these teams will stop battling for a win until the final whistle. It’s going to be a long, dramatic, and hard fought match -- and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.
