Neymar’s contract leaked, and it won’t quiet questions about a shady pre-agreement
Conspiracy theorists, have fun with this.

The contract that Football Leaks was created to leak has finally dropped. Neymar’s deal is out, and if you’re a Madridista, it’s less sinister than you were hoping. If Barcelona and Neymar’s representatives ever did have any dirt, they were smart enough to keep it out of this contract.
The analysis at AS has one particularly interesting line:
“The agreement makes it clear that no pre-contract existed between the parties, although there are also clauses further on that state the player must destroy any previously signed documents within the space of ten days.”
There isn’t a pre-contract, which is definitely not one of the completely unrelated documents that you should destroy, because it doesn’t exist. Destroy other documents that you’ve signed within 10 days, though.
Neymar’s base salary of €5 million ($5.7 million US) per season isn’t much, but he’s been hitting most of the incentives in his contract and making almost double that. Still, expect him to get a new deal with a much higher base salary this summer.
