Manchester City vs. Paris Saint-Germain confirmed Champions League lineups

Yaya Toure has been left out of Manchester City’s starting lineup despite his return to health.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are set to finish their Champions League quarterfinal grudge match in England, with the aggregate score at 2-2 after Manchester's surprising performance in Paris a week ago. Both teams have somewhat surprising lineups, which could lead to an interesting game Tuesday.

Manchester have left Yaya Toure out of their starting lineup despite his return to health, instead opting to go with the same midfield duo of Fernandinho and Fernando Reges that started in France. That pairing struggled mightily against PSG’s midfield, so the decision is something of a curious one -- but perhaps not as curious as PSG’s lineup.

The French side are starting both of Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front, but everything behind them is in varying degrees of flux. Ostensibly, it looks like a 4-4-2 with normal fullback Gregory Van der Wiel playing as a winger across from Angel Di Maria, but it doesn’t take much in the way of mental gymnastics to see this same starting XI as a 3-5-2, with Serge Aurier playing in the back 3, Van de Wiel and Maxwell playing as wing backs, and Di Maria starting out behind the two strikers. It’s an interesting lineup to be sure, and seeing how it plays out will be fascinating.

Manchester City starting XI (4-2-3-1): Joe Hart; Bacary Sagna, Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala, Gael Clichy; Fernando Reges, Fernandinho; Jesus Navas, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silga; Sergio Aguero

Paris Saint-Germain starting XI (4-4-2): Kevin Trapp; Serge Aurier, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Maxwell; Gregory Van Der Wiel, Thiago Motta, Adrien Rabiot, Angel Di Maria; Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibahimovic
