Roma vs. Napoli 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Serie A online

Roma can come within a couple of points of Napoli with a win at the Olimpico on Monday.

Napoli's hopes of wresting the Serie A crown from Juventus have now all but evaporated, with two defeats in their last four games having seen Maurizio Sarri's men fall provisionally 12 points adrift of the league leaders. However, they'll now turn their attention to securing second place, with the recently revived AS Roma having closed to within five points of the Neapolitans in the table.

The two teams go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday, as part of a bumper day of Serie A action on the public holiday celebrating their liberation from Nazi rule on this day in 1945. Their superior league position means Napoli may well head in as favorites, though only Juventus have managed to beat Roma since November. There’s no doubt they’re a strong team, and will be supremely motivated for the renewal of the Derby del Sole in front of their home fans.

Key player: Gonzalo Higuaín (Napoli)

Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín is now back from suspension, and could very well make all the difference when these sides face off on Monday. He’s been in some quite phenomenal form so far this season, and, having found the net on 30 occasions this season, he’s scored almost twice as many goals as Serie A’s second-top scorer. Roma’s defense will have to put in a brilliant performance if they’re to keep him quiet.

Recent history

The reverse fixture between these sides ended goalless at the San Paolo, though before then, the previous eight editions of this derby had been won by the home side. That just goes to show quite how important home advantage can be in these fixtures. Not since 2011, when Edinson Cavani scored a brace in a 2-0 win (and when Claudio Ranieri was Roma coach) have Napoli won away in Rome.
