It’s the last weekend of the Serie A season, and while only a handful of matches are loaded with much meaning, there’s a lot on the line as AS Roma head to the San Siro to square off with AC Milan. A higher spot in the table beckons, and while Roma don’t quite control their own destiny in that area, that doesn’t change the fact that they’re going to work as hard as they can to give themselves a chance at getting there.
A.C. Milan vs. Roma 2016 live stream: Start time, TV schedule and how to watch Serie A online
Roma have to beat Milan at the San Siro and hope for a little bit of help if they’re going to finish where they want to in Serie A.

Roma have already guaranteed themselves a spot in the Champions League qualifying process next season, but if they can surpass Napoli and finish second, they’ll skip the qualifying rounds entirely and go straight to the group stage. That guaranteed ticket is worth a lot of money in TV funds, sponsorships, and gate receipts, so expect to see Roma come out flying full-bore, making sure to keep up their end of what needs to happen to pip Napoli to that treasured spot in the table. Beyond that, they’ll have to hope for the best in Napoli’s match that kicks off at the same time.
What’s at stake
For Milan, there’s nothing at stake but pride. They could potentially bump up a spot to sixth place, but that would still leave them at best one point out from a Europa League spot in the Serie A table. There’s nothing to be gained from a win -- outside of the pleasure of ruining the hopes that Roma come into this match loaded with.
That’s because Roma still have an outside shot at second place in the league, though they need a win and some help to get there. They need Frosinone to take points off Napoli if the giallorossi are going to finish second, something that Luciano Spalletti and his players desperately want considering the guaranteed place in the Champions League group stage that finish would bring. Getting that by surpassing their southern rivals at the last full measure of the season would be all the sweeter.
Of course, they have to beat Milan first, and no one likes to play spoiler more than a fallen giant like the rossoneri.
