17-year-old USMNT star Christian Pulisic clowned Ecuador’s whole midfield

This kid might just have a future, folks.

Christian Pulisic had already been impressive ever since he stepped off the bench for the United States against Ecuador, but after the USMNT took a 1-0 lead late in the match, he kicked things up a notch.

Stealing the ball, bodying off the defender, running off, keeping the ball away from two players, then threading it past a third player to play a one-two with a teammate while under pressure? Good lord. That’s just unfair stuff from most any player, but from a 17-year-old? That’s not normal. Teenagers aren’t supposed to have that kind of poise and technique.

Pulisic has been sitting on top of an ever-growing hype train, and it’s easy to see why when you watch clips like this. He is just loaded with talent, and is perhaps the most skilled young player the USMNT has seen in a decade or more. There’s no guarantee that he lives up to his potential -- but if he does, the U.S. might just have their first true international superstar on their hands.
