Atlético Madrid wins a penalty, but Antoine Griezmann misses it

So close...

Atlético Madrid had a chance to level the Champions League final early in the second half, but they've squandered it. Pepe hauled down Fernando Torres in the box, leading referee Mark Clattenburg to point to the penalty spot, but Antoine Griezmann hit the bar.

The miss was a surprising one -- Griezmann’s had an incredible season, and his technique is world class. A mere inch lower and it might have hit the underside of the bar, then bounced into the back of the net.

As for the foul itself, it was a no doubter. Torres might have been looking for this, but Pepe definitely fouled him.

It didn't matter, though, and Real Madrid escaped this particular big chance with a 1-0 lead intact. If you're in the UK and you can't see the miss above, you can watch the UK version here.
