Gyasi Zardes and Clint Dempsey combine to put USMNT up 2-0

The United States are inching closer to the Copa America semifinal.

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a roller coaster of a game for the USMNT against Ecuador, featuring a double-red that made the game 10-on-10. But they were given a big cushion in the 65th minute by Gyasi Zardes, who tapped in a square ball from Clint Dempsey.

Even though he didn't get on the box score, Bobby Wood did most of the work to set up this goal, holding the ball up and finding Dempsey. The same thing happened on the first goal, when he got the hockey assist. This goal put the United States 2-0 ahead of Ecuador.
