Xherdan Shaqiri hopes Switzerland’s kit manufacturer doesn’t make condoms
Switzerland finished their game against France with four ripped shirts.


Switzerland have had a steady Euro 2016 campaign so far, though it may well go down in history as the tournament in which they wore shirts made of tissue paper. Their goalless draw with France yesterday saw four players end up with ripped shirts, and, one imagines, faces as red as the Swiss flag at the headquarters of kit manufacturers Puma.
The upside is that it provided material for a fantastic one-liner from Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri, who told Swiss newspaper Blick: “I hope Puma does not produce condoms.” Puma have since announced that their product team is currently “investigating the shirt material.” We should hope so.

There isn’t much choice here given only one goal was scored, but Albania’s Armando Sadiku certainly took his chance well:
