Laurent Blanc leaves Paris Saint-Germain
The French club look set to hire Sevilla coach Unai Emery.

Aside from the fallout of Lionel Messi’s international retirement, the day’s big news is that Paris Saint-Germain have parted company with coach Laurent Blanc. The former coach of the French national team had spent three years at the helm of the French champions, though consistent disappointment in the Champions League had seen his future called into question in recent months. He looks set to be replaced by Sevilla coach Unai Emery.
In a statement on their website, PSG thanked Blanc for the work he has done at the Parc des Princes, though declared it a “new chapter in the development of the club”. Also departing PSG today is Blanc’s assistant coach, Jean-Louis Gasset, and fitness coach Philippe Lambert. The club will be hoping a shakeup in management will see them finally establish themselves as genuine contenders for European football’s biggest domestic prize.
