USA vs. Costa Rica lineups

The USMNT has made no changes.

To the surprise of no one, Jurgen Klinsmann has not changed his lineup to face Costa Rica. He said repeatedly that he was satisfied with his side’s performance in the opening game of Copa America against Colombia, so the United States men’s national team will look exactly the same to face Los Ticos.

That means there’s a handful of players that Klinsmann needs to see better performances from. Clint Dempsey is one of the greatest USMNT players of all time, but he doesn’t look comfortable in the middle of this 4-3-3. He’ll need to get on the ball more and get his teammates involved. The Americans will also need for Michael Bradley to commit fewer turnovers in his role.

Costa Rica have a forced change, with Kendall Waston unavailable through suspension. They’ve also left off Yeltsin Tejada, who picked up an early yellow against Paraguay. Without those two, the Ticos lineup looks like a pretty attack-minded 3-4-2-1.

United States lineup (4-3-3): Brad Guzan; Fabian Johnson, John Brooks, Geoff Cameron, DeAndre Yedlin; Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones, Alejandro Bedoya; Bobby Wood, Clint Dempsey, Gyasi Zardes

Costa Rica lineup (3-4-2-1): Patrick Pemberton; Oscar Duarte, Johnny Acosta, Francisco Calvo; Ronald Matarrita, Celso Borges, Christian Bolaños, Cristian Gamboa; Bryan Ruiz, Joel Campbell; Marco Ureña
