It hasn't always been as pretty as had been anticipated, though Didier Deschamps' side have managed to find results even when performances have been missing. They're now only a game away from winning their first major tournament since 2000, and they'll head in as favourites.

They're an industrious and well-organised outfit, and in Cristiano Ronaldo, they have a player who can turn a game with a moment of individual brilliance. They're out for their first ever major tournament title; they were beaten by Greece in their only other final back in 2004.
History is certainly on the side of the French, who have won their last 10 games against Portugal. Not since a friendly back in 1975 have the Iberian outfit toppled Les Bleus.
