In his second chance to win a big final for Portugal, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has needed to exit the match due to an injury. He attempted to continue after taking a knock to his knee, but couldn't finish the game. He was substituted for Ricardo Quaresma in the 25th minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo exits Euro 2016 final with knee injury
What a shame.

Early in the game, Ronaldo went down hard after a collision with France's Dimitri Payet, and was taken off the pitch to receive medical attention. He played on for 10 minutes after that, but never looked right, and was constantly testing his knee. In the 17th minute, he sat down on the pitch and was in tears while he was attended to. He stepped off the pitch a second time, then returned four minutes later.
But it became clear that Ronaldo couldn’t continue after the second time he tried to play on. He was furious, spiking the captain’s armband down to the ground before handing it to Nani. As the stretcher came out, he was sobbing.
Hopefully the injury isn't such a serious one that it'll cost him a significant part of the next club season. Real Madrid will have been sweating watching Ronaldo trying to continue on an injured knee.
