France fell in heartbreaking fashion in Sunday's Euro 2016 final, but one of their stars has won player of the tournament honors after having an excellent run from start to finish. Antoine Griezmann has been honored as the best player at Euro 2016, and it's pretty easy to see why.
Antoine Griezmann wins Euro 2016 player of the tournament
An impressive tournament run that led to an appearance in the final ended with top honors.

Griezmann is also the Golden Boot winner for the tournament, with his six goals far and away the highest total of the tournament. He was France's most reliable attacking presence, always finding ways to pop up and cause danger for the opposing defense and goalkeeper.
His creativity was also a huge driving force for France all throughout the Euros, with two assists and a highlight reel’s worth of big moments on the ball setting things up for his teammates. His ability to find just the right pass in a given situation has gotten France through so many tough moments in the tournament and created so many of their goals.
While he didn’t score in the final, it was his goals and his quality that got France there, and even though they didn’t win, it was still Griezmann at the heart of almost all of their best chances to score. Without him, they wouldn’t have stood a chance. and they probably wouldn’t have even made the final.
Greizmann was selected for the award by a panel of 13 “technical observers” used by UEFA during the tournament, a group lead by Sir Alex Ferguson. They also selected Portugal’s Renato Sanches as the Young Player of the Tournament award winner, another selection that’s tough to argue.
