The International Champions Cup is turning to Charlotte, where both Inter Milan and Bayern Munich will be hoping to pick up their first win of the preseason tournament. Bayern are coming off a penalty loss to another Italian team, as Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t figure out a way to surpass one of his former teams and AC Milan pulled out a 3-3 draw before the shootout.

Inter are hoping to get back to the pinnacle of Serie A, and a preseason win over Bayern would be a good way to kick-start things.

Now Milan’s other team will be hoping to continue the anti-Bayern trend, as Inter are desperately hoping to get their preseason rolling. They’ve only won a single match since they started their season preparations, a 2-1 friendly win over Real Salt Lake. They lost their first ICC match to Paris Saint-Germain, lost a friendly to CSKA Sofia and settled for friendly draws with Estudiantes and Austrian side Wattens. With new ownership looking on, Inter will want to pick up a big win as they look to climb back up the Serie A ladder after years of disappointing finishes. Finding a way to overcome their struggles and beat Bayern would be the perfect way to get that train rolling.
Fun Inter Milan player to watch: Caner Erkin
Signed on a free earlier in the summer, Erkin has played a big role in Inter’s friendlies and earlier ICC matches this summer. The Turkish left back has played significant minutes and played well in doing so, looking to earn himself more than just a depth role off Inter’s bench. If he can keep playing well and lock down the starting job, it will make Roberto Mancini’s job of filling out his lineup card each week much easier -- and it certainly helps that Erkin’s flashy style and ability to make a big contribution in attacks make watching him much easier on the eyes. An in-form Erkin makes Inter much better.
Fun Bayern Munich player to watch: Julian Green
The audacious young American talent could be a huge part of the future of the USMNT, but he’s struggled mightily in the handful of opportunities he’s gotten in the past two years. He did, however, impress on Wednesday against AC Milan, and if he can continue to show that kind of form then there may just be hope for him yet. He likely won’t have a place in Ancelotti’s first team, but if he shows well in this match he might just be able to generate interest from another team for a loan in order to get the playing time he so dearly needs.
