Germany have had a frustrating start to their Olympic campaign, being held to draws by both Mexico and South Korea in their first couple of matches. The upshot is that they need a victory over tournament debutants Fiji on Wednesday to stand any chance of making it into the knockout stages, though even then they’ll be reliant on the other sides in their group producing a helpful result.
Germany vs. Fiji 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Olympic soccer online
Germany should have no trouble defeating minnows Fiji in the men’s Olympic football on Wednesday.

The game kicks off at 3 p.m. ET, and you can watch online and on your mobile device on NBC’s Olympics coverage.
If Germany win and there is a winner in South Korea’s match against Mexico, Germany will progress at the loser’s expense. If South Korea and Mexico draw, and Germany win, they’ll have to do so by a sufficient margin to overhaul Mexico’s goal difference advantage. Heading into the match, Germany’s goal difference inferiority stands at four goals.
But while that may sound like a difficult task, Germany should have little difficulty thrashing a Fiji side that has so far been significantly inferior to the other sides in their group. The Pacific islanders sit rock bottom of the group, having followed up a tournament-opening 8-0 defeat to South Korea with a 5-1 loss at the hands of Mexico. Germany, armed with some of the Bundesliga’s most talented young players, should be able to record a similarly emphatic victory.
