Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch DFL-Supercup online

The German domestic season's traditional curtain-raiser, Sunday's DFL-Supercup, sees reigning league and cup champions Bayern Munich go head-to-head with perennial runners-up Borussia Dortmund. Bayern head into the campaign under the management of Carlo Ancelotti for the very first time, with the Italian having been appointed to replace new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. Dortmund, meanwhile, are still under the tutelage of talented young coach Thomas Tuchel.

For all the fears that Dortmund's squad could be decimated by key departures this summer, they head into the new campaign with reason for optimism. Mats Hummels may well take to the field on Sunday in a Bayern shirt, having made the move from BVB this summer, but Mario Götze has moved in the opposite direction. The arrivals of other talented young players in Dortmund, including former Barcelona centre-back Marc Bartra, and Portugal's Euro 2016-winning left-back Raphaël Guerreiro, offer reason for optimism.

Key player: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)

Though the departure of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United will hit Dortmund hard, they'll doubtless just be relieved to have held onto Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The pacy attacker enjoyed his best spell in a Dortmund shirt last season, finishing the campaign with 25 Bundesliga goals. If he delivers in such a manner again, they could well run Bayern close.

Recent history

These sides last met on the final of the DFP-Pokal back in May, with Bayern Munich emerging victorious in a penalty shootout. For Dortmund, that was still a marked improvement on their last visit to the Allianz Arena, when they were hammered 5-1. Not since April 2015, when Dortmund themselves beat Bayern on penalties, have they managed to fell the Bavarian giants.

Bayern Munich injuries and suspensions

Out: Arjen Robben (hamstring), Renato Sanches (thigh). In doubt: Douglas Costa, Jérôme Boateng (hamstring), Holger Badstuber (unspecified muscle).

Borussia Dortmund injuries and suspensions

Out: Neven Subotić (rib); Matthias Ginter, Sven Bender (Olympics). In doubt: Marco Reus (adductor).

Neither of these sides head into the match in perfect condition. Bayern will certainly be without Robben and Sanches, with a couple of other first-team regulars likely to join them on the sidelines. Dortmund, meanwhile, will certainly be without Subotić, Ginter and Bender, though their biggest absentee will likely be winger Reus, who is continuing his recovery from an adductor injury.
