Champions League qualifying has reached its final round, with the final playoffs before the group stage getting underway. One of the more interesting matchups of the round is between English power Manchester City, newly led by Pep Guardiola, and Romanian elite Steaua Bucharest, who are hoping to catch City off-guard and cause a huge upset.

It will be a huge task for Steaua to accomplish after the turmoil they’ve gone through the last few years, but if the timing is ever going to be right for them to knock off a club like Manchester City, this is the time. Steaua have form on their side, winning their last four competitive matches in the league and Champions League qualifying and five of six. With the English side coming off a narrow win over lowly Sunderland that required an early penalty and a late own goal to earn, and with serious injury woes in defense, Steaua might just have all the advantage they need to snag a first-leg upset win at home to give them a chance to advance to the group stage.
