Two weeks ago when the 2016 Olympics women's soccer tournament started, if you said that Sweden and Germany would meet in the bronze medal match, it would have raised a few eyebrows but many people could have seen it. If you said they'd be in the gold medal match, though, people would have called you crazy. Well, apparently we live in a crazy world, because that's exactly what we have: Sweden against Germany for Olympic gold.
Sweden vs. Germany 2016 live stream: How to watch Olympic soccer gold medal game online
An unexpected matchup in the battle for Olympic gold could make the final all the more compelling to watch.

This has been a tournament of upsets. Sweden knocked out the United States and Brazil, two of the three major gold medal favorites coming into the tournament, in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Germany, seen as a possible contender for a spot in this match but as a definite dark hose, took down the other favorite in Canada in the semis. Nothing has really shaken out like we expected coming in -- and to be honest, the tournament is better off for it.
Predictability is boring, after all, and teams stepping up and causing huge upsets is a lot of fun. Both Sweden and Germany have been excellent, albeit in very different ways, and now we’re going to see which approach will prove superior with gold on the line. This is going to be a very intense, hard-fought matchup, and it will deserve rapt attention from fans all over the world.
