Manchester City just have to dot the proverbial 'I's and cross the proverbial 'T's in the second leg of their Champions League playoff against Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola's side hammered the Romanian champions 5-0 in last weekend's first match, meaning Steaua would need to pull off quite possibly the most incredible comeback the sport has ever seen to make it into the group stages at City's expense.
Manchester City vs. Steaua Bucharest 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Champions League online
Manchester City head into the second leg of their Champions League playoff with an unassailable advantage.
Guardiola was unwilling to take any risks in the game away in Bucharest, and started a full-strength lineup. However, with City having given themselves such a comfortable buffer, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the coach experiment with his selection at the Etihad. That said, they’re not in action again until Sunday, when they welcome a talented West Ham side to Manchester in the Premier League.
In the interim, Southampton supporters are sure to be keeping a keen eye on the Steaua selection, with Romanian playmaker Nicolae Stanciu -- who started last week's match -- reportedly close to completing a move to the Premier League outfit. If he's omitted from Steaua's starting lineup on Wednesday, there will likely be some fire beneath the smoke.
