Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti will take charge of his first-ever Bundesliga match on Friday, as the Bavarian champions welcome Werder Bremen to the Allianz Arena in the German top flight's curtain-raiser. Bayern head in as comfortable favorites, with Werder having finished last season in a rather underwhelming 13th place. Anything other than a defeat would be a great result for Viktor Skrypnyk's side.

However, they're sure to take heart from the fact that Bayern head into the match without a few of their regular faces. Holger Badstuber and Douglas Costa will both miss out as they continue to get up to match speed, while Kingsley Coman and Jérôme Boateng are set to be sidelined with ankle and muscle injuries, respectively. Bremen's biggest absentee will be summer signing Max Kruse, who is being made to wait for his debut thanks to a thigh problem.

Bayern have won 13 straight matches against Werder in a run that stretches back to September 2010. Not since September 2008 have Werder managed to beat the Bavarians, when Mesut Özil starred in a remarkable 5-2 victory away at the Allianz. You’d certainly get long odds on a repeat performance happening when the sides clash on Friday.
