Enzo Fernández’s full name is actually Enzo Alan Zidane Fernández: he’s the eldest son of the incumbent Merengues coach Zinedine Zidane. The 21-year-old has played for the Real Madrid academy since 2004, and though he’s still awaiting his first team breakthrough, he must be getting close. Indeed, one team that will be watching the midfielder’s performance closely is Middlesbrough, which have been linked with a loan swoop over the last few days.
Fun Bayern Munich fringe player to watch: Julian Green
This could be a big season for Julian Green. The young American international netted a hat trick as Bayern demolished Inter Milan, 4-1, last time out, and the Bavarian side’s coach Carlo Ancelotti must surely be considering giving him a run in the first team. He’ll be looking to deliver a similarly impressive performance against Real Madrid and make Ancelotti’s selection dilemmas even more difficult.
Compared to other friendlies, is this worth my time?
Yes. Two great teams with a smattering of talented young players. This is one worth watching. 7/10.
