Callum Wilson scores winner off a backheel flick to lift Bournemouth

Bournemouth have their first win of the campaign after Wilson’s late goal toppled West Bromwich Albion.

AFC Bournemouth looked like they were going to be left searching for their first Premier League win of the season on Saturday, stuck in a scoreless draw with West Bromwich Albion. They'd had their chances to score, but West Brom's defense was determined and stout, and all of the Cherries' tries at goal went for naught — until Callum Wilson stepped up in the waning minutes of the match.

Wilson might be young at 24, but the instincts and skill to execute that flick are those of a veteran. It’s a wonderful finish and goal, and the pressure and importance of the moment with the result riding on what Wilson does there makes it all the more impressive.

The ease in which he pulled that off is telling as to just how confident and skilled Wilson can be, and the young English striker looks like he has a bright future ahead of him. Last season he was heating up before an injury cut his season short — hopefully this year will see him stay healthy and show the world what he can do.
