Real Madrid haven't lost a competitive match since April, and not since February have Zinedine Zidane's side suffered a league defeat. They'll be looking to continue that outstanding run of form and extend their lead at the top of the La Liga table when they host Villarreal on Wednesday, having kicked off the new season with four straight wins. Anything other than three points would be a disappointment for the Merengues.

However, they should still be wary of underestimating the threat posed by Villarreal. The Submarino Amarillo finished in an excellent fourth place last season, and have started the new campaign with equal promise. Three straight wins in all competitions will give them confidence heading into what is sure to be a tough match at the Santiago Bernabéu, where they’re looking to win for the first time in their history.

Madrid should have Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo both back after they missed the weekend's win over Espanyol, though Keylor Navas and Casemiro are both likely to be sidelined through injury. Villarreal, meanwhile, will be without strikers Roberto Soldado and Cédric Bakambu, though otherwise should have a full-strength team available.
