Manchester Derby headlines EFL Cup 4th-round draw

Manchester United against Manchester City is the eye-grabbing match of the round, but Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur should be a fun match as well.

The EFL Cup third round is history, and now the fourth round has been drawn, bringing us two fantastic matchups among the eight matches in the round. Fans will be treated to the second Manchester Derby of the season, with Jose Mourinho and Manchester United hosting Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. Liverpool are also hosting Tottenham Hotspur, giving this round two premium matchups to enjoy.

Mourinho and Guardiola have already gone head to head once this season, with City overcoming United 2-1 at Old Trafford. United and Mourinho will be eager to get a win back over their rivals, especially as Mourinho has never particularly enjoyed losing to Guardiola.

Liverpool and Tottenham have built up a bit of a mini-rivalry in the last few years, with the pair of talented sides often battling for positioning in the Premier League. Their matches are always highly charged games played with pace and meaning, and that should make this match a highly entertaining one with both teams wanting to do well in the EFL Cup.

We’re also getting a rematch from one of the most dramatic League Cup matches in recent history between Arsenal and Championship side Reading. A fourth-round match in 2012 saw the Gunners come back from a four-goal deficit to beat Reading 7-5 in an incredible display that hasn’t been forgotten by either fan base, and they’ll be eager to see what happens this time around.

Elsewhere, we’ll get a London Derby with West Ham United hosting Chelsea, plus a pair of all-Championship matches with Leeds United hosting Norwich City, and Newcastle United hosting Preston North End, guaranteeing that two teams from outside the EPL will advance to the quarterfinals.
