Jozy Altidore wins MLS Player of the Week award for Week 28

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

SB Nation’s MLS Player of the Week came down to two players.

In one corner, you have Toronto FC's Jozy Altidore. It may be unfair to say the U.S. international is "finally coming good" in his second stint in the league, but with Sebastian Giovinco out injured, Altidore has certainly stepped up since his own return from injury. His two-goal performance in an entertaining 3-3 draw against the New York Red Bulls burnished his Player of the Week credentials.

In the other corner, there's the New England Revolution's Kelyn Rowe. A player who has shown spurts of promise in his career to date, Rowe had a monster performance on the road for the Revs, with two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact.

In the end, just one point separated the duo, with Altidore edging out Rowe for Player of the Week honors according to the voting panel. We’re going to chalk it up to the national TV bounce.

Full results for Week 28, with first-place votes getting three points, second-place votes receiving two points and third-place votes earning a point each:
