Sam Allardyce and England have mutually agreed to part ways after the Three Lions boss was caught on camera explaining how to circumvent the FA’s rules against third party ownership. An investigation by The Telegraph revealed that Allardyce accepted a fee to teach “Asian businessmen” -- actually reporters -- about manipulating the FA’s rules.

Allardyce’s England tenure has ended after he was caught on camera explaining to people he thought were businessmen how to get around FA rules.

“Allardyce’s conduct, as reported today, was inappropriate of the England manager,” the FA said in a statement announcing Allardyce’s departure. “He accepts he made a significant error of judgement and has apologised. However, due to the serious nature of his actions, The FA and Allardyce have mutually agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
Gareth Southgate will take over as England manager on an interim basis. Southgate is the former manager of Middlesbrough, and has been the England Under-21 boss since 2013. His tenure is likely to last four games, through the end of 2016, with the FA hoping to appoint a new permanent boss before England plays again in March.
Allardyce was in charge of England for just one game, a win over Slovakia in World Cup qualifying. His tenure ends after only 67 days in charge.
