USMNT vs. Trindad and Tobago lineups: Christian Pulisic gets a start

The USMNT’s young superstar will get a big chance on Tuesday.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The United States already knows they’re headed for the Hexagonal round of World Cup qualifying barring absolute disaster, but they’d like to finish this round with a good showing and first place. They take on Trinidad and Tobago in their last game on Tuesday, and Jurgen Klinsmann has made some changes.

Fabian Johnson, Geoff Cameron, Michael Bradley, Alejandro Bedoya, Bobby Wood and Jozy Altidore have kept their places, but the rest of the team is rotated. Tim Howard gets a game, and will be joined in defense by Steve Birnbaum and Omar Gonzalez. It’s not clear if Birnbaum or Cameron will start at right back. Young star Christian Pulisic gets a start, along with Sacha Kljestan, who performed well as a substitute against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The U.S. might actually benefit from a draw or loss. If they beat T&T, they’ll have to face Mexico in the first game of the Hex.

United States lineup: Tim Howard; Fabian Johnson, Omar Gonzalez, Steve Birnbaum, Geoff Cameron; Christian Pulisic, Sacha Kljestan, Michael Bradley, Alejandro Bedoya; Bobby Wood, Jozy Altidore

Trinidad and Tobago lineup: Marvin Phillip; Joevin Jones, Aubrey David, Radanfah Abu Bakr, Carlyle Mitchell, Khaleem Hyland, Andre Boucaud, Jomal Williams, Kevin Molino, Levi Garcia, Kenwyne Jones

Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. ET from EverBank Field in Jacksonville. You can catch the game on FS1 and UniMas.
