Lionel Messi will be at The Best FIFA Awards ceremony on Monday, where he’ll be hoping to win the World Player of the Year award once again. And on a disappointing day for Barcelona against Villarreal, his incredible free kick reminded everyone why he’s up for that award.

Unfortunately for the Blaugrana, the game ended 1-1. There’s no shame in drawing away to Villarreal, a good team with an excellent home record, but it’s points they couldn’t afford to drop in the race for the La Liga title against Real Madrid.

Still, that free kick. Look at it. It’s probably top five in Messi’s career.
