Barcelona and Sevilla have put on some impressive matches in recent seasons, but their La Liga tilt this weekend may more resemble a trip to the hospital ward than a truly competitive match.

Both teams are coming into this match battered by injuries, with Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto and Andre Gomes joining the already-injured list of Thomas Vermaelen, Andres Iniesta, Rafinha, Ousmane Dembele, Aleix Vidal, and Arda Turan, robbing them of valuable depth all over the pitch. Sevilla aren’t much better off, with Walter Montoya, Daniel Carrico, and Nicolas Perja all sidelined with various injuries, and the key duo of Ever Banega and Pablo Sarabia are both questionable to be part of their midfield for the match. Missing them would be a big blow to Sevilla’s chances of getting something out of this match, as they’d be struggling for answers without them.

Still, both Barcelona and Sevilla have been dealing with injury issues all season to various extents, and they’ve both found success in spite of it. Barcelona have dropped just two points all season, while Sevilla have lost just three matches in the young campaign and are sitting in fifth place, one point behind third place Real Madrid. They’ve been an impressive side to watch work this season, but Sevilla are going to have to be better than ever to beat Barcelona in this match.
