World Cup 2018 draw live results

Finally, the big day is here. On Friday, all of the 32 teams that qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia will have their names drawn into a group and learn their first three opponents at the tournament.

One team’s draw is preset — Russia — so that the organizers can plan and sell tickets at those venues ahead of time. Otherwise, the other teams have no idea where they’re heading.

All of the teams have been placed into pots according to their FIFA rankings, which you can find at the bottom of this page. This is different from previous World Cup draws when the pots were at least partially arranged by geography, which led to some especially weak or strong groups. That’s now much less likely to happen.

The draw show gets underway at 10 a.m. ET from the Kremlin in Moscow, though they’re not likely to actually draw balls right away. It’ll take at least an hour — and probably longer — before all of the groups are known.
