FINAL SCORE — Real Madrid 0-3 Barcelona.

Well, that’s probably the La Liga title race over. You can read a recap of this edition of El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona here.

90’ — GOAL! Real Madrid 0-3 Barcelona

Aleix Vidal adds insult to injury, finishing off a cutback from Messi.

78’ — Marc-Andre ter Stegen denies a shot from Bale, and a chance for Madrid to get back into the game.

72’ — Real Madrid uses its last two substitutions. Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio replace Casemiro and Mateo Kovacic.

66’ — Gareth Bale was ready to come in, but the red card changes Madrid’s plans. Nacho enters for Benzema.

64’ — GOAL! Real Madrid 0-2 Barcelona

Messi scores from the spot. With Madrid on 10 men, that should be the game.

63’ — PENALTY AND RED CARD!

What a sequence. After Suarez has a shot saved, Messi recovers the ball, plays him in again, and Suarez hits the post with his second shot. The rebound falls to Paulinho, who heads at goal, and Dani Carvajal intentionally blocks the ball with his arm. The referee points to the spot and shows Carvajal a red card.

60’ — Sergio Ramos gets a yellow card for a hard foul from behind on Suarez. La Liga’s record holder for red cards is working on another.

54’ — GOAL! Real Madrid 0-1 Barcelona.

What a team goal by Barca. Sergio Busquets started it with a turn away from pressure in his own half and a pass to Ivan Rakitic. The Croatian went on a long run through the center before passing to Sergi Roberto on the edge of the box, and he played a perfect diagonal for Suarez to finish from eight yards. Gorgeous.

53’ — Great ball from Iniesta to Jordi Alba, he cuts back to Suarez, but the Uruguayan’s shot is weak.

46’ — And we’re back! No changes to start the second half.

HALFTIME — Real Madrid 0-0 Barcelona

This has been an entertaining end-to-end game, but both teams’ center backs and goalkeepers have been up to the challenge.

42’ — Benzema off the post! He’s been very active, but just a hair off on his shots and passes.

39’ — Once again, Messi is the creator and Paulinho is the shooter. This time, Messi beats two defenders down the left, crosses, and Paulinho’s low shot is saved.

30’ — Barcelona’s first chance falls to Paulinho, who runs onto a brilliant through ball from Messi. He hits a half-volley from 10 yards that Keylor Navas tips over the bar.

18’ — End to end stuff now. Varane clears a Paulinho cutback on one end, Pique has to clear one from Karim Benzema on the other end just 15 seconds later. Not long later, Madrid surges forward again and Thomas Vermaelen has to foul Luka Modric and take a yellow card.

10’ — Incredible run down the left wing and cutback by Kroos for Ronaldo, but uncharacteristically, he whiffs on a wide open shot.

Also during that play, Andres Iniesta took a knock from Dani Carvajal. He looks like he’s in some pain but will try to continue.

8’ — Madrid has had all of the possession so far. Barcelona looks more interested in keeping shape and countering quickly than they do in playing their usual style.

2’ — Already some early drama with a disallowed goal. Raphael Varane heads a corner to Cristiano Ronaldo, who redirects it into the back of the net, but Ronaldo was offside.

1’ — Kickoff!

Saturday’s match between Real Madrid and Barcelona isn’t just any other edition of El Clásico. It’s a must-win for Los Merengues in their quest to stay in the La Liga title race and make history with a six trophy season.

Madrid already has already won all three of the trophies they had a chance to capture so far, but it’s lagging badly behind Barcelona in the league. The Blaugrana have 42 points and an undefeated record, while Real Madrid sits on 31 points.

There were some concerns about the fitness of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo this week, but both passed fit and will be ready to play. They’ll need to find the back of the net, since they can’t count on their defense keeping a clean sheet — Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have combined for 21 La Liga goals so far this season.

This is a live blog, and this post will update throughout the match, with the newest updates appearing at the top of the page.
