Bayern Munich take on Arsenal at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League first knockout round on Wednesday, and the lineups are now out. Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti’s most notable selection is that of Arjen Robben, who starts over Thomas Müller on the right. Thiago Alcântara is preferred to Renato Sanches in midfield, with Arturo Vidal and Xabi Alonso anchoring things in a double-pivot.

Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has bravely stuck with his policy of rotating his goalkeepers in the cup competitions, meaning David Ospina is given the nod over Petr Čech between the sticks. Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin anchor the midfield, behind Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mesut Özil and Alex Iwobi, who is preferred to Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck. Alexis Sánchez starts as the Gunners’ lone striker.

Bayern Munich starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; David Alaba, Mats Hummels, Javi Martínez, Philipp Lahm; Arturo Vidal, Xabi Alonso; Douglas Costa, Thiago Alcântara, Arjen Robben; Robert Lewandowski.

Arsenal starting lineup (4-2-3-1): David Ospina; Kieran Gibbs, Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Héctor Bellerín; Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mesut Özil, Alex Iwobi; Alexis Sánchez.
