Alexis Sanchez misses penalty, whiffs, then scores on the 3rd try for Arsenal vs. Bayern Munich

Third time’s a charm.

Alexis Sanchez had his spot kick saved after Laurent Koscielny was fouled in the box by Robert Lewandowski in the first half of Arsenal’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. But then something great happened.

The Chilean went for a placed shot to the bottom left that known human wall Manuel Neuer read all the way. The rebound came back to Sanchez, and with the goalkeeper scrambling back to his feet, he scuffed his second shot and missed a wide open net. The mishit sent the ball into the air and Sanchez managed to chest it down and get it past a line of defenders and Neuer on his third try. Never in doubt.

Sanchez has been Arsenal’s best player in the game and has given them a vital away goal in a match that looked to be a heading towards a routine Bayern win. As always, the mantra remains: Trust in Alexis.
