The second match of Bruce Arena’s second tenure as USMNT manager is about to begin, and hopefully their match against Jamaica in Tennessee ends better than the dull, scoreless draw they experienced against Serbia.
USA vs. Jamaica 2017: Time, TV schedule for USMNT friendly
Let’s hope for a better second match for Bruce Arena.

Of course, there were some good things that came out of that match, in terms of tactics and personnel, but now it’s time to take those positive indications and turn them into positive results. Jamaica are coming off an incredibly long run of bad form, but did win their last two matches, in October and November -- though like the USMNT, they lack their best players right now, and don’t have quite the same depth that the United States do.
Regardless, this should be an interesting match, with Arena still tinkering with different tactical ideas and personnel sets. This match is about figuring out how things are going to work between Arena and his new team, and trying to get ready for the World Cup qualifiers looming in March. A win here would be a wonderful thing, but the most important things to look for are progress and quality — a win without those would be utterly meaningless and would not help the USMNT a bit with what they’ve got coming up.
