Atlético Madrid vs. Bayer Leverkusen 2017: Time, TV schedule for Champions League

Bayer Leverkusen will have to upset all odds if they’re to make it into the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday. That’s because they lost, 4-2, at home to Atlético Madrid in the first leg, meaning they need to score at least thrice away at the Calderón against one of Europe’s meanest defences to stand any chance of progressing.

However, they’ll be hoping to benefit from a new manager bounce, having replaced coach Roger Schmidt with Tayfun Korkut since their first leg defeat last month. Having said that, Korkut’s arrival didn’t do much good on the weekend, when they were held at home to struggling Werder Bremen. It seems the best they can hope for in this match is to be competitive.

1. Atléti will be without regulars Filipe Luís and Gabi, who both have one-match suspensions. Augusto Fernández is sidelined with a long-term knee injury, while Tiago, Kévin Gameiro and Stefan Savić are all doubtful.

2. Bayern will be without Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who is suspended for the remainder of the season. Benjamin Henrichs also serves a suspension, albeit one that lasts just a single game. Jonathan Tah hasn’t played since early last month, and that hamstring injury will likely keep him out again here.

3. These sides met at this stage of the competition two years ago. Atléti eventually progressed, though it went all the way to penalties before the tie was decided. A repeat certainly looks unlikely on Wednesday.
