Brazil vs. Paraguay, 2018 World Cup qualifier: Game time, TV schedule, and live stream

Brazil should be able to maintain their fine form at home to Paraguay on Tuesday.

Brazil’s World Cup qualifying campaign has so far gone swimmingly, with Tite’s men sitting seven points clear at the top of the group with five rounds left to play. They recorded their seventh straight qualifying win last week, seeing off closest competitors Uruguay with an emphatic 4-1 victory in Montevideo. They can’t ease up just yet, but their place at Russia 2018 is almost assured.

Their next qualifier comes on Tuesday, when they welcome Paraguay to São Paulo. The visitors will be desperate to take advantage of any Brazilian complacency, given their own precarious qualification position. A poor run of form has seen them fall to seventh in CONMEBOL qualification, two points adrift of the fifth-place playoff spot. They need wins, and fast.

Three big things to know

1. Brazil have only lost one competitive match on home soil since 1975. Unfortunately it was a big one, and came when they were thrashed 7-1 by Germany in Belo Horizonte in the semifinal of the 2014 World Cup. Suffice to say, a repeat looks unlikely against Paraguay.

2. Paraguay are unbeaten against Brazil in their last four meetings. That includes the reverse fixture of the current World Cup qualifying campaign, in which Brazil were held to a 2-2 draw in Asunción.

3. With their campaign having gone so well, Brazil are on course to maintain their record as the only team to have appeared at every single edition of the World Cup. Paraguay last appeared in 2010, making it to the quarterfinals before being narrowly beaten by eventual winners Spain.
