Everything is going according to plan for Mexico in World Cup qualifying, and they have a chance to solidify their standing at the top of CONCACAF with a win away to Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday night.

T&T appeared to have little chance of advancing in qualifying after losing at home to Costa Rica during the first set of matches last fall, but they turned in an impressive performance on Friday, beating Panama at home. If they could take a point against Mexico, they’d feel like they had a shot at finishing in the top four heading into this summer’s games.

Mexico was rock solid in their last game, a home win over Costa Rica. They took the lead in the seventh minute and never looked under too serious of a threat in their 2-0 victory. That took them to the top of the Hexagonal, and they’re the only undefeated team remaining.

El Tri are having to deal with some injuries ahead of this game. Jurgen Damm and Rafael Marquez are both out of this match after picking up injuries against Costa Rica. The good news for Mexico is that “Chicharito” Javier Hernandez will play despite an injury scare. Trinidad and Tobago didn’t have any reported injuries after their first World Cup qualifying match and should have a full squad available.
