Arsenal need little short of a miracle on Tuesday if they're to make it into the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in seven years. The Gunners suffered a 5-1 humiliation in the first leg of their tie with Bayern Munich last month, and it's likely that manager Arsène Wenger is just hoping for a successful damage limitation exercise.

The Gunners suffered a first leg humiliation.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern, meanwhile, know they just have to see the game out. Indeed, with a few of their key players currently hampered by minor injuries, it’s possible that the Italian coach will use this opportunity for rotation. It would take one of the greatest comebacks in the tournament’s history for the Gunners to make it through.

Three big things to know
1. The latest addition to Arsenal's list of absentees is Mesut Özil, who is currently sidelined with illness. He'll join the injured Santi Cazorla and Mohamed Elneny in the stands. Attacker Alexis Sánchez should feature after being dropped for the weekend's defeat to Liverpool for a training ground row with Wenger.
2. Bayern will be without right-back Philipp Lahm, who is suspended. Renato Sanches, Douglas Costa, and Jérôme Boateng will all have to pass late fitness tests if they're to play.
3. There is a precedent for comebacks of this scale, but not many. Only three sides have managed to come back from four-goal deficits in the history of UEFA competition -- the most recent came in 1985, when Borussia Mönchengladbach were eliminated by Real Madrid in the UEFA Cup third round, despite having won 5-1 in the first leg.
