Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match between Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco had to be postponed after BVB’s team bus was hit with explosives on the side of a road. Defender Marc Bartra was injured and was hospitalized, and the police now have suspects in custody.
Borussia Dortmund ‘want to show that terror and hatred can never dictate our actions’ with game on Wednesday
“We do not just play for us today. We play for everyone.”

Not everyone is OK with Dortmund being asked to play just one day after the blast, but their CEO isn’t complaining.
“We want to show that terror and hatred can never dictate our actions,” Hans-Joachim Watzke said. “We do not just play for us today. We play for everyone — no matter whether Borussia, Bayer or Schalke supporters. And of course we play for Marc Bartra, who wants to see his team win.”
Here’s one feel-good aspect to this story: Some Monaco supporters had their travel plans altered by the rescheduling, but found places to stay with helpful Dortmund fans. Because of that, they’ll be able to attend today’s game, where both sets of supporters will be a bit more friendly with each other than usual.
