Now, with the home crowd behind them, they have a chance, albeit a narrow one, to score a huge upset and make the Champions League semifinals.
Of course, to do that they’ll have to out-think and out-work Diego Simeone’s side, and that’s significantly easier to say than it is to execute. Simeone wasn’t happy with the outcome in the first leg last week, and his team already took out some of their frustrations from the weekend in La Liga action — but now it’s time for them to refocus and get the job done in hostile territory, and that’s become a specialty of Atlético Madrid over the last few years.
