Monaco netted three away goals in their 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund last week, and so head into the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie in a healthy position indeed. Though these sides are renowned for scoring plenty of goals — and conceding almost as many — it’s a lead that should prove sufficient to see Leonardo Jardim’s side into the final four.
Monaco vs. Borussia Dortmund: Time, TV schedule for Champions League
Monaco have a significant advantage heading into the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal against Borussia Dortmund.
That said, Dortmund will be boosted by the return of Marco Reus to first team action after another injury layoff, with the winger getting on the scoresheet in just the third minute of their Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt over the weekend. Monaco head in on the back of a four-game winning streak in all competitions: They came from behind to beat struggling Dijon and stay atop of their domestic table on Saturday.
Monaco will be without Gabriel Boschilia, Guido Carrillo and Djibril Sidibé, who are all on the treatment table. However, their biggest miss is midfielder Fabinho, who is suspended. Borussia Dortmund will be without Mario Götze and André Schürrle, as well as Marc Bartra, who underwent surgery after suffering an injury to his arm in the explosion that saw the reverse fixture postponed by a day last week. Sebastian Rode is in doubt.
